Classification and selection of explosion-proof lighting fixtures

Time:2023-10-11 Views:0

Explosion proof lamps are generally classified based on the selected light source, explosion-proof structure, and purpose. According to the light source, there are explosion-proof incandescent lamps, explosion-proof high-pressure mercury lamps, explosion-proof low-pressure fluorescent lamps, hybrid light source lamps, etc; Explosion-proof lamps, increased safety lamps, composite lamps, etc. are classified according to the type of explosion-proof structure; Explosion-proof lamps and portable explosion-proof lamps.

Selection of light source for explosion-proof lamps. Although incandescent lamps are still widely used, they are gradually being replaced by other light sources due to their low luminous efficiency and short lifespan. Among them, single plug, lead-free fluorescent lamps, self ballasted high-pressure mercury lamps, and high-pressure sodium lamps are widely used.

A single plug non start fluorescent lamp is a cold cathode gas discharge lamp. The principle of irradiation is to use the discharge between electrodes to generate ultraviolet radiation from mercury atoms, thereby stimulating the luminescence of fluorescent materials on the inner wall of the lamp. This type of fluorescent lamp has high luminous efficiency (about three times that of incandescent lamps) and a long service life. When starting, there is no need for a starter (usually there is a conductive layer on the wall of the lamp, called a sliding layer, which completes the radiation brightness of the fluorescent lamp); When the light bulb ruptures, the flash layer is also damaged and the bulb goes out. The cathode temperature is low (about 200 ° C), making it a safe and practical light source, very suitable for making increased safety lighting fixtures.

Self ballasted high-pressure mercury lamp is a hybrid light source that emits light through the use of high-pressure mercury vapor discharge and three types of incandescent and fluorescent substances. It has the advantages of high brightness, simple structure, and fast startup speed. It changes the drawbacks of high-pressure mercury lamps that previously required additional ballasts. The use of tungsten wire has a current limiting function and also improves the color of light. The disadvantage is that the lifespan is shorter than that of ordinary fluorescent high-pressure mercury lamps. High pressure sodium lamp is a high-pressure sodium vapor discharge lamp with the advantages of high luminous efficiency, low power consumption, strong atomization ability, and long service life.

Single plug, no start fluorescent lamp, and self ballasted high-pressure mercury lamp are mainly used in the production unit of the author's unit. The original fixed explosion-proof incandescent lamp has been replaced by an original lamp with a self ballasted high-pressure mercury bulb, while meeting the minimum distance between the bulb and the specified transparent cover plate. Although high-pressure sodium lamps have certain energy-saving effects, due to their poor color rendering, we generally do not use them in production equipment and only use them for road lighting. Sometimes, in order to improve the straight white color of high-pressure mercury lamps, some high-pressure sodium lamps can also be included in the production unit. For high-intensity lighting places that require good color rendering (such as on-site inspections of large equipment), explosion-proof floodlights can be used. The light source is usually a metal halide lamp, with a rated power of over 1000W.
