Does the power supply have a built-in lightning arrester?

Time:2022-03-04 Views:0

At present, in the field of LED outdoor lighting, some power supply companies have launched something called "built-in lightning protection device", which is just a gimmick. The unreasonable coordination of protective equipment results in "no action or malfunction".

Without a complete understanding of the EMC industry, it is a disrespect to the lightning protection industry and the discipline of electromagnetic compatibility to rashly build a lightning arrester in the constant current switching power supply!

First of all, it is impossible for the lightning arrester to be made into a full voltage, and the SPD can only be made into a single voltage, which is caused by the components and cannot be changed;

Secondly, the lightning arrester must have the necessary thermal tripping device, which is not something that a current fuse can do;

Finally, a complete thermal design must be done in the system, specially designed for TOV experiments in IEC61643 and UL1449.

It is recommended that LED street light and display screen companies learn the standards: YD/T1235.1-2002 "Technical Requirements for Surge Protectors for Low-Voltage Power Distribution Systems" and the original Ministry of Railways standard TB/T2311-2008 "Railway Signaling Equipment with Surge Protectors" Surge Protector".
