Dimmable downlights have many design shapes, mainly vertical downlights and horizontal downlights. Depending on the installation design, the size selection will be different. There is a lot of knowledge about dimming downlights. Below, Yangzhong Hengyuan Lighting will introduce the main materials and dimming methods of dimming downlights.
The main materials used for dimming downlights
Current dimming downlights are mainly made of multiple high-power LEDs and integrated packaged LEDs. Using multiple high-power LEDs usually requires a circuit board to electrically connect the LEDs. Most of the circuit boards are made of aluminum substrates (MCPCB), and some designs are also made of glass fiber boards (FR-4), but need to specifically design heat dissipation pads, and then fix them on the lamp housing radiator with screws or glue . For spotlights made of multiple high-power LEDs, the lens is usually combined into a spot lens after each LED is independently distributed.
Spotlights made of integrated packaged LEDs do not require a circuit board. You can directly connect the drive power output line to the LED lamp, and also use screws or glue to fix it on the lamp housing radiator. The secondary optics of this kind of spotlight usually uses a lens or reflector to distribute light. The height of the lens and reflector is relatively high, and it is difficult to distribute light at a small angle.
Dimming method of dimming downlight
There are three main and common dimming methods for dimming downlights. These three dimming techniques are all adjusted according to the change of LED drive current input. According to different circuit systems, it can also be divided into imitated dimming and PWM dimming.
The former: this dimming method is to complete the dimming of the dimming downlight by modulating the LED drive current. Since the brightness of the LED chip is related to the LED drive current, we can control the adjustment by scheduling the LED drive current. The brightness of the downlight.
The second type: This dimming method is called the imitating dimming method or the linear dimming method. The advantage of this dimming method is that when the driving current increases or decreases linearly, the impact of the driving current overshoot on the life of the dimming downlight is reduced, and the dimming circuit has strong anti-interference. The disadvantage is that the change process of the drive current must have a certain influence on the color temperature of the LED chip.
The third type: This dimming method is called pulse width modulation (PWM). This method is to make the driving current in a square wave shape through scheduling, the pulse width of which is variable, the pulse width is changed to modulate the continuous lighting time of the dimming downlight, and the input power is also changed, and then the energy saving and adjustment are achieved. Light intent.
The frequency is the same as usual, about 200Hz~10KHz; due to the hysteresis of human eye vision, you will not feel the flicker that occurs in the dimming process of the light source. The advantage of this dimming method is that it can improve the heat dissipation function of the LED, but the disadvantage is that the overshoot of the driving current must have a certain influence on the life of the LED chip.
